Special Interests WE DO

Upper Limb Therapy and rehabilitation
Hand physiotherapy is a non-surgical rehabilitation process performed by a physiotherapist to manage hand disorders and injuries. Hand physiotherapy involves the use of exercise, scar management and immobilisation as needed.
During our evaluation we will be able to decide if a referral to a specialist might be needed. We have a good relationship with the specialists in Mossel Bay and the surrounding areas. We also do the post-operative rehabilitation.

Palliative care

The setting can vary from your home, a frail care home, hospice or in rare cases a hospital setting. Patients are seen and treated by a variety of health professionals to treat and care for their illnesses, and it can range from staying for a week to years. This does not mean that it is only for people who are dying, but for anyone requiring ongoing longative care. Treatment can start as soon as when you first learn about your life-threatening condition. In palliative care the medical team strives to provide COMFORT most of all and relieving of symptoms. A step-by-step plan is crafted to ensure this for you as the patient and your family. The aim of palliative care is to improve your quality of life.

frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if I need physiotherapy?
If you’re experiencing pain, stiffness, or difficulty moving after an injury, surgery, or chronic condition, physiotherapy may be beneficial. Our team can assess your condition and develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs.
Do I need a referral to see a physiotherapist?
In many cases, you don’t need a referral to see a physiotherapist. However, some insurance plans or healthcare providers may require one. Contact us to check whether a referral is necessary in your case.
How long will my physiotherapy treatment last?
The duration of your treatment will depend on your specific condition and goals. Initially, your physiotherapist will assess your condition, and based on that, they will create a treatment plan. Some patients may need just a few sessions, while others may require ongoing care over several weeks or months. An initial session would normally be the longest session because a full assessment needs to be done followed by treatment.
What can I expect during my first physiotherapy appointment?
During your first appointment, your physiotherapist will perform a thorough assessment, which may include a physical examination, movement analysis, and discussion of your medical history. Based on the assessment, your physiotherapist will explain the treatment options available and begin your personalized treatment plan.
How do I know if my insurance covers physiotherapy?
Many insurance plans cover physiotherapy services. It’s best to check with your insurance provider to confirm your coverage and understand any co-pays or limitations. We can also provide a receipt for your treatment to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
How often will I need to come for treatment?
The frequency of your physiotherapy sessions will depend on your condition and treatment plan. Initially, you may need to attend sessions more frequently and over time, as you improve, the sessions may become less frequent.
What should I wear to my physiotherapy appointment?
Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely. Depending on your condition, you may need to expose the area being treated (e.g., knee, shoulder), so wearing clothes that allow easy access to the affected area is helpful.
Can physiotherapy help me avoid surgery?
In many cases, physiotherapy can help you avoid surgery by treating the underlying cause of pain and dysfunction. If surgery is recommended, physiotherapy can also aid in pre- and post-surgical rehabilitation to improve recovery outcomes.
Will I be given exercises to do at home?
Yes, our physiotherapists often prescribe specific exercises to be done at home. These exercises help you progress faster and maintain the improvements you’ve made in your sessions.
How can I book an appointment?
Booking an appointment is easy! You can call us directly 044 690 3256 or sent us a message on WhatsApp 076 775 9017. If you have any questions or need assistance, feel free to reach out, and our team will be happy to help.
